Toilet Flushing Options

A number of options exist when it comes to flushing types. Each has its own benefits and offers unique water-saving opportunities. You will want to consider which option works best for everyone in your household.


Water-Saving Toilets

When it comes to toilets, water use is measured in gallons per flush or gpf. Older, less efficient toilets used 3.5 gallons of water per flush or more.


Toilet Flushing Types

Single-Flush Toilets

  • Delivers the same consistent flush with every use

  • Most save water by using only 1.28 gallons of water per flush, although models from 1.0 gpf to 1.6 gpf are also available

  • Offers the widest range of design, shape, color and installation options

Dual Flush Toilets

  • Buttons or levers offer the choice between a light or full flush

  • Saves water by using as little as 0.6 gallons of water for a light flush and up to 1.6 gallons for a full flush

Touchless Flush Toilets

  • Allows you to flush your toilet by just placing your hand over the sensor, minimizing the spread of germs

  • Available on a range of water-saving toilets

  • Toilets can be converted to a no-touch flush with the Touchless kit

  • Battery operated; no electricity is required
